What I’ve Learnt About Starting a Consultancy.
Launching CoreFlow Advisory Ltd on 30th September 2025 has been one of the most exciting and humbling experiences of my career so far.
Starting my own business has been an ambition for some time, and after more than two decades leading operations, supply chain, and transformation functions across manufacturing and logistics, I decided it was time to channel that experience into something of my own.
The idea was simple: help businesses flow better — faster, smarter, and more sustainably.
A few weeks in, I’ve realised that building a consultancy isn’t just about strategy or service design. It’s about focus, clarity, and rhythm, the same principles that drive great operations.
Simplicity Wins Every Time
One of my first lessons was how easy it is to overcomplicate things: websites, branding, service definitions, even the daily routine.
In operations, simplicity drives efficiency. In consultancy, simplicity drives clarity.
The more I simplified how I explain CoreFlow — helping operations flow faster, smarter, and more sustainably — the more people understood it instantly. And that understanding opened doors.
Relationships Create Momentum
Much of these early weeks have been spent connecting rather than selling.
I’ve reconnected with old colleagues, spoken with recruiters, and started conversations with potential partners. What I’ve found is that trust moves faster than transactions. People want to work with those who care, deliver, and have real-world scars and successes to back them up. The credibility you build across a career becomes your strongest currency when you go out on your own.
In the coming weeks, I’m looking forward to connecting with even more former colleagues and potential partners to explore where we can collaborate and add value together.
Continuous Learning Never Stops
Setting up CoreFlow Advisory Ltd has forced me to learn more in a few weeks than I did in the previous few months, from website SEO and AI integration to digital marketing strategy and pricing models.
It has also meant stepping into entirely new areas: accountancy, working with an accountant, and learning what it really means to build a brand from the ground up. These were all things I had never done before. While intimidating at first, the growth has been incredible, and I’ve already had the privilege of receiving guidance and encouragement from some fantastic people along the way. It has been truly humbling.
I’ve always believed in the power of learning agility, the ability to adapt, learn fast, and apply lessons quickly. Now I’m living that belief every day. Every challenge, every conversation, and every small win compounds.
In the words of a great leader I once had the pleasure to work with: "Better Never Stops"
Trends Are Shifting Fast
The manufacturing and logistics sectors are changing rapidly.
Clients aren’t just asking for cost reduction anymore; they’re asking for clarity, digital capability, and cultural change. AI is no longer a future concept, it’s already shaping how leaders make faster, data-backed decisions.
That’s why CoreFlow Advisory Ltd integrates AI-driven diagnostics and digital tools into everything we do. It’s about enabling smarter, not just leaner, operations.
There’s a lot more to come on this in my next blog post, where I’ll share how AI is transforming operational decision-making across manufacturing and logistics.
Flow Is More Than a Name
“CoreFlow Advisory Ltd” isn’t just a brand; it’s a philosophy.
Whether it’s improving process efficiency, stabilising a site, or accelerating transformation, the goal remains the same: to help clients create operational flow that connects cost, capability, and culture.
Closing Thoughts
If you’re reading this and thinking about launching something of your own, do it!
There’s never a perfect moment, only a clear one. For me, that clarity came when I realised I could make a real difference for businesses trying to grow, transform, and compete.
Before closing, I want to take a moment to thank the people who have already supported me during these early weeks, from those who offered advice, encouragement, and introductions, to those who simply believed in the vision. Your time and trust have meant a great deal, and I’m incredibly grateful.
I’ll be sharing regular updates on what I’m learning through CoreFlow — from client insights to operational trends shaping the next phase of manufacturing and logistics.
