I've Just passed the 24-day mark since founding CoreFlow Advisory Ltd, and one thing is clear: the pressure on operations teams in manufacturing, logistics, and e-commerce is intensifying.
My mission remains simple: Impact & Delivery. No fluff. No passive plans. Let's get it done.
Industry Challenges: Rising Costs, Rising Expectations
According to Make UK business confidence among Britain’s manufacturers has fallen sharply in response to rising energy, raw-material, and logistics costs, with many firms citing double-digit cost increases over the past 12 months.
Margins are being squeezed while customer expectations for speed and convenience continue to climb. For manufacturers, logistics providers, and e-commerce operations alike, the era of set-and-forget is over. Success now depends on agility, automation, and simplicity because without them, today’s opportunity quickly becomes tomorrow’s constraint.
How AI is Accelerating Operational Efficiency
Here’s where the opportunity lies: AI isn’t a buzzword — it’s a lever.
Across many operations I’ve reviewed or discussed, repetitive, manual, low-value tasks still consume vast amounts of time and energy.
The World Economic Forum highlights how AI is transforming the factory floor — enabling predictive maintenance, real-time quality inspection, and energy optimisation. Meanwhile PwC's 2024 report on AI & Productivity found that 72 % of manufacturers using AI have already achieved measurable efficiency or cost gains.
The key question isn’t “Should we use AI?” — it’s “Where will it deliver measurable value now?”
The companies winning today are those identifying bottlenecks, deploying targeted AI or automation solutions, and tracking real outcomes, reduced downtime, improved OEE, faster order cycles. That’s delivery, not discussion.
Learning from Clients and the Power of Simplicity
My first client engagement came from an independent business owner in the private healthcare sector looking to scale efficiently. The conversation focused not on growth for growth’s sake, but on simplicity in logistics, how rising customer expectations for speed and convenience are reshaping the landscape.
Without focused investment in technology and automation, these pressures become a heavy operational burden. But when simplicity and flow are prioritised, teams regain control and performance accelerates.
The Start-Up Mindset: Lose the Ego, Ask for Help
One of the most valuable lessons from these first weeks: lose the ego.
Starting a business means there’s plenty you don’t know and that’s okay. The key is to ask.
I’m no longer surrounded by a great large internal team, so I’ve been reaching out to former colleagues, clients, partners, and peers. The response has been overwhelmingly positive. Most people want to help when you’re genuine, purposeful, and focused on delivering value.
Looking Ahead
At CoreFlow Advisory, the next phase is all about execution.
I'm launching targeted operational-readiness sessions and AI-enabled diagnostics designed to help clients in manufacturing, logistics, and e-commerce reduce operating costs with realistic, high-impact target drawn from years of transformation delivery.
If your organisation is facing cost pressures, logistics complexity, or automation challenges, I’d love to connect. Not for another theoretical discussion, but to build a roadmap, act fast, and deliver measurable improvement.
Here’s to week five — where the real delivery begins.
If you’re ready to turn these insights into real action for your business, let’s talk. Feel free to reach out to me directly and we’ll explore how CoreFlow Advisory can help you achieve measurable results.
Have a great week.
Gary.
